Takeuchi Naoko
Takeuchi Naoko is best known for her manga: Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon (or recently re-translated to Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon). At Ten(sen)shi, we hope to provide a little bit more information into Takeuchi's other works for the interested visitor. Naoko was born on March 15, 1967. Many of her inspirations for her collection of manga are from her attendance of Kofu Ichi High School where she wore sailor suits to school and was a part of the astronomy and manga clubs. During this time, she became an avid manga artist, but was told to pursue a more stable profession by her father when the time came for college. Takeuchi decided to go to Kyoritsu University of Pharmacy and received a degree in chemistry and pharmacy. She is currently married to Togashi Yoshihiro, another manga artist (known best for his works YuYu Hakusho and Hunter x Hunter). In 2001, Naoko and Yoshihiro had a son, whose name has not been disclosed, but is known by his nickname as Petit Oji.Naoko's works

A short and sweet romance story that really is reminiscent Naoko's overall style: quirky mishap girl and mysterious boy. (Note another story Wink Rain is supposed to also be in here, but it doesn't seem to have been translated) - Read Online Maria (1989-90) "'Daddy Longlegs' appeared for Maria... She transfers to the noted Green Garden Academy and begins her search for 'Daddy Longlegs', but... An eternal masterpiece." Have yet to read, but another twist based on the Longlegs tale. - Read Online The Cherry Project (1990-91) "Tsuzuki is searching for a pair skating partner, and before him out of nowhere appears Cherry. Seeing her talent underneath, Tsuzuki sets up plans for Cherry, those being... It's the magnificent skating comic!" Possibly my favorite Takeuchi work besides Sailormoon. - Read Online Codename: Sailor V (1991-97) "The super-cheerful girl Aino Minako transforms into the sailor-suited beautiful soldier, Sailor V, and fights together with her white cat Artemis!" The prototype story line to Sailormoon. - Read Online Pretty Soldier Sailormoon (1992-97) "She is the legendary Sailor suited soldier known as Sailormoon." I've included a link to the entire translated Mixx manga cleaned up by Icera along with Parallel Sailormoon. Starry Heaven translators are translating the new version! - Read Online | Download completed old version Miss Rain (1993) "Where Kuramitsu Rena goes, it is sure to rain... Before she knew it, she got the name 'Miss Rain'" Reminds you of Mizuno Ami? Sailormercury was the most popular senshi when Sailormoon began. - Read Online Prism Time (1986-97) "Prism Time. That is the sweet, painful, beautiful moments of loving girls." A variety of short stories that Takeuchi wrote that span from the time she began as a mangaka to Sailormoon. Sorry I couldn't find any scanlations! But you can read the text at TMoTN. - Read Online PQ Angels (1997) "Among humans, each person has a guardian angel who guides and protects him. But a story of angels, or a story of humans, this is not." Unfortunately, this promising series never made it far because Kodansha (Takeuchi's publisher) lost her original manuscript and it was discontinued. - Read Online Princess Takeuchi Naoko's Return to Society Punch!! (1998) "Naoko returned from her yearlong break from work with a new series: Princess Takeuchi Naoko's Return-to-Society Punch!!. This "private essay comic" is a silly narrative in manga form about the events in her life." After her post-fame with Sailormoon. Only text is available. - Read Online Toki Meki! (2001, 2005-06) " At last I've completed it!! The cute, kind, clever, tokimeku robot friend with the form of the ideal girl, Prototype No. 1: Hanayori Meca-chan!" After four years, Takeuchi Naoko returns with a short story that promises to be a full fledge manga. As of date this is the only manga Takeuchi Naoko has finished after Sailormoon. - Read Online Love Witch (2003) "The god of the beginning of the world is the Goddess. " After starting the short story Toki Meka! Naoko asked if anyone was interested in reading more, but later moved onto Love Witch instead, which was an entirely unrelated story. IllustrationsTakeuchi Naoko helped to illustrate the following manga novels: Mermaid Panic, Watashi no Wagamama o kiite, Zettai Kore o Ubbatte Miseru. Currently the only manga writer she has illustrated for is Koizumi Marie. Sorry everyone, there are currently no scanlations available for these works. I've included a few images from Mermaid Panic Watashi no Wagamama o kiite. Original scans were from Tsuki Matsuri (I have edited them for quality).
BooksTakeuchi Naoko has currently only written one book, which was in turn illustrated by her husband Togashi Yoshihiro, as a birthday present to their son called Oboo-nu- to Chiboo-nu-.
