Original ideas by Icera
Most newer TCGs, anyone past 2004 probably won't believe most of these, but that's alright with me. I just like to list what I contributed and if you're wondering the origins of something. I came up with these while running Cephiro Collection (2002) and So Magical (2003)...or even the re-opened So Magical (2007). I would appreciate a link back if this is the site you found your inspiration at. Click on the name of the game/title for more information.I would really appreciate it if you decide to use any of the ideas below that you don't just copy/paste the entire concept. Rather make it your own. I don't wish to become a carbon-copy TCG and I want you to be innovative too!
- Games
- Patch of Heaven most chosen item by traders gets the smallest prize
- Hangman if a trader guessed wrong they would have to give up one card into the pot. Whoever guessed correctly wins the whole pot.
- Poison Apple my version of freebies. Choose the wrong apple, lose one card.
- Pongo Spots/Card riddle guess which card I'm describing based on what's happening on the card.
- Double trade in twist trading in doubles can be rewarding or you might lose cards.
- Timon's TV/Video clip watch a video clip and answer the question.
- Number sentence find the number hidden in the sentence.
- Survey/Poll/Questionnaire allows traders to voice freely on certain aspects of the TCG.
- Event returns trade in event cards you can't master anymore.
- Custom lotto cards made specifically for each trader.
- Peter Pan's Shadows guess the character based only on silhouette.
- Part of Your World/Alphabet character decks instead of first come gets the card spot, traders get to vote on which characters they want on the special deck.
- Contest - Acronym I got tired of always seeing graphic contests. Acronym lets everyone participate!
- Contest - Coloring black and white coloring page scanned in for traders to color/manipulate.
- Season Events these events never end, an ongoing bombardment of themed fun based on the four seasons throughout the year and also gives everyone a fair chance to master an Event deck.
- Voting for contest entries. Making it fair for everyone to voice who should win contests. - Cards
- Blend/Icon winners of Blend and Icon contests.
- Event only given out during the duration of the corresponding event.
- Trader receive a trader card for trading.
- Special alphabet name member voted on characters to be on each Letter deck i.e. Letter A deck - Ariel, Aurora, etc. - Content
- Game icons seen on every single Arena game page and also the Overview section. I wanted more originality and eye-candy to the game pages so I added a left-hand themed image to each game page.
- Card descriptions I often wondered why a deck was named the way it was, so I provided descriptions as to why a deck was named so i.e. Apple (Snow White)
- Deck collecting on member list as an avid trader back in the day I found it frustrating not to quickly know what a trader was collecting, so when I opened up CC I added that to our list. - Technicals
- The Slower-Paced TCG when I re-opened SM we were the only TCG that decided to not have any weekly games (and yes I did a lot of research). I also only updated once a week. It seems to have worked wonders with lots of new TCGs sprouting up =)
- Member card rollover on member list a fun interactive way to display active member cards.
- Tradeboard an alternative to forums.
- Password gates originated at Neo Nobility and moved on to Mousey's Animelicious! TCG. I don't really care who you credit...since everyone uses password gates now and has forgotten the origins anyways lol.
- Trading requirement to level up While researching (before re-opening), I found on a lot of TCGs all traders did were hoard freebie cards. I wanted traders to dig back into the roots of what being in a TCG means! To trade!
