frequently asked questions
Here are some pre-determined questions as well as questions that visitors and traders have asked. If your question wasn't answered here feel free to fill out the contact form. Note that I am free and flexible to any changes regarding games, gameplay etc. If a majority of traders feel the need for something to be added/taken away most likely I will follow through with it. This is not just my TCG, it's yours too!
arena games
Are the So Magical Seasons / Events the same every year?No they're not =) I try to create something new every single event, so Winter 08 will be different than Winter 09's event. I'll always try for a new storyline and different types of quests/games.
Can we have weekly games?
Although I have created an update automatically game script, I still don't want to do weekly games nor do I use the script. My reasons below:
I hold by the statement that we will be a slower paced TCG. This always you to join more TCGs at your leisure and not having to worry that you'll fall behind here. For me at least biweekly games are enough. I'm also not using my Automatic game update script, unless I go on vacation or have to go on hiatus or something. I still prefer to manual update.
And my old reasonings (when I didn't have an auto-update script), which I think are still pretty valid.
1. Time - as a TCG owner I make time to run So Magical. I don't make any promises I can't keep, so I can't guarantee everyone that I'll be able to update 5+ games on time on a weekly basis. I'd rather keep this TCG at my pace, slow and steady.
2. So some people have asked...why not easy-to-update games? And I'll ask in return, don't people get bored of the same weekly games on every single TCG? It's all the same, javascripted/randomizer games i.e. Puzzle, Match, Slots... For some reason that doesn't really appeal to me, so that's another reason why I don't just slap up easy-to-update weekly games.
cards
I heard that character decks might be made in the future. Would they only be main characters?I realized after looking at one of our first update (check out our archives October 2007) that yes I did say we would have Character decks. So to stay true to my word we will be having Characters decks, but like the first update states after we finish up Movie and Music (to an extent).
Character decks won't only be main characters. They will be any character you wish to see and as long as we have 15 images of them, then any character is possible.
I'm concerned that we have so many cards. If we implement character cards won't it ruin the balance?
I've monitored how this game was played since we began. I.e. at first the games only offered 2 cards > 3 > now even 5 due to our increase of cards. I've always made sure I gave away an even circulation of cards using a chart. Looking at even our higher level traders, not many of them have doubles, but they can still easily master. I think as long as I'm careful about how we distribute cards, I think we'll be okay =)
Why is the Aristocat movie deck called Aristocrat not AristoCAT?
All of our movie decks are based off something memorable or symbolic from the movie. The movie title AristoCAT is actually a pun off the original world AristoCRAT. An aristoCRAT is someone who is extremely wealthy and proper. Duchess and her kittens personify the word aristoCRAT, even though they are cats.
Will you make a Swan Princess and Anastasia set?
No sorry, but Swan Princess and Anastasia are not Disney films.
Will we ever do live-action Disney movies, i.e. High School Musical, Enchanted?
If we ever do run out of cards/resources, then yes we will move onto live-action Disney movies. The first ones we would implement would be half animation/live-action i.e. Enchanted, Mary Poppins, etc.

How does trading count work here?Trading goes by cards regardless of who you traded with. So if you traded 3 regular cards (worth 1) then it would count as three trades.
The reason why special cards count as two trades is because usually people trade with each other 2 regular cards for 1 special card. So by default whenever you trade anyone a special card it will count as two trades. And a special rule is that member cards (even though they're worth 0) count as one trade.
Examples:
- I traded roar01, special-princess02 for your spirit02, 03, 05 = 3 trades
- I traded toy02, 03, member card for your sword02, 03, member card = 3 trades
- I traded special-princess03 for your special-princess10 = 2 trades
- I traded roar02, 03, 04 for your apple02, 03, 04 = 3 trades
The trades don't go by the date you traded, just by cards ^^ I found that traders became confused with how to count trades if you went by person/date since sometimes you would trade with a person more than once a day.
Can I be a staff member?
As of now I can handle running SM. I love working with other people, but I believe if I can handle running the TCG by myself we can all be more productive and have fun playing the games =) If I ever do need a staff, I will be sure to ask.
Do you play your TCG?
No I don't. For me anyways I think it would be unfair to play my own TCG. I probably wouldn't know how to begin on how I would earn cards haha. And the thought of just "paying" myself instead of playing the games doesn't sound fun at all. I'd rather just concentrate on being an owner =)
Why are there no coupons, freebies, or other collectible items?
Personally, I find all those extra sprites, coupons and whatnot a bit messy. I understand the concept of maybe having one choice coupon (we have the variation of once choice filler for more gameplay freedom), but having random collectibles, and a bunch of coupons/sprites to turn in for me is a bit cumbersome. However, if traders ever want to collect small items and have a currency we could do it.
Why do we have to trade to level up?
Last time I checked we were a Trading card game...not let's hoard cards through freebies and games. I'm just trying to get back into the roots of us remembering to trade =)
How come you won't let us donate graphics?
As much as I want to give traders the chance to earn cards, graphic donations is not one of them. I don't believe it's fair that while some people have the talent to make graphics as well as a program to do so should have an extra advantage over those who don't.
I also try to be high-quality here at SM, and although I know everyone tries very hard to do their best work, it's not always what I'm looking for. I would hate to turn down anyone's work based on quality, so I'd rather just not have it as an option.
